Florida has been on the wrong side of this before. In 1981, IBM built the personal computer in Boca Raton. For a decade, South Florida held one of the deepest concentrations of computing talent in the country. Then the work moved. The industry that followed was worth trillions — and almost none of it was captured here. Florida had the talent, and didn’t build the ground underneath it.
Quantum is no longer just a research question. It cleared a billion dollars in revenue last year, and the positions are being taken now. Waiting for maturity means arriving after the ground is claimed.
In quantum, there is no second place among nations. This time, Florida builds the ground.

Defense first
Adversaries are collecting encrypted traffic today, expecting to decrypt it later. Florida hosts three combatant commands, more than twenty major installations and the launchpad of America’s space economy — and its quantum programs need capacity they can reach and trust: sovereign, on a quantum-secure state network, not rented from a distant cloud.
